November 2007

Woah. Good morning!

I figured with me being so tired all of the time it was time I’d get me some serious sleep so I didn’t set an alarm clock for this ‘morning’. If that wasn’t enough, I also closed the double layered curtains so no light could get in and wake me up early. Then I went to bed at around ten thirty last night.

Guess what? I just woke up about twenty minutes ago. Hello day! Maybe I did need some sleep after all. ;-)

The problem with me sleeping this long, however, is that though my head usually loves the rest, my back doesn’t so I tend to wake up pretty much wrecked and feel like that for quite some time. But that’s something to (maybe) worry about later on, I now need to do something with the few hours that this weekend has left …

Lately while the week passes by I’m more and more looking forwards to the weekends, which is something new to me. Of course, weekends are fine and a nice break from the everyday working rhythm but I’ve never really seemed to actually need them as much as I do now. Not sure what this means yet but maybe we’ll find out one day.

Anyway, a new one is here now and I’m thankful for it. Tomorrow morning I get to sleep a little longer into the day than the rest of the week and that fact alone is well worth having these weekends for. :-)

When the working day is done I’ll continue getting my gaming PC back up & running so I can join the guys with racing again next week. I’ll give it until the end of the Saturday evening and if by then it’s still instable I’m staring backups and will wipe that thing clean for a new install. I’ve been trying to prevent that being necessary but it’s starting to look like there’s no escaping it.

Oh well, it’s never became slower after a reinstall before so it can’t hurt. It’s just that it takes a lot of time getting everything installed again. So be it.

Have a nice weekend everyone!

After first confirming whether or not Bas had any plans for last night, I next phoned Jaap to find out if their ‘table one’ was available for snooker. Luckily it was, so Bas and I head over there and had (yet again :-) a very nice evening of snooker.

Would you believe that the past couple of weeks of snooker, the evenings we played at their place, have been so much more fun than, say, the last year or so at Matrchroom? It’s amazing what a change of scenery can do. When I now play snooker it’s in total piece and a nice calm and steady environment. I even managed to see a glimpse of the old me in regard to the way I used to be able to play snooker. Just fabulous.

Additionally I had a vewy intewesting jobs talk with Inge, Jaap’s wife. So far, things sound very good so who knows what this will lead to in the future. There may very well be hope for me after all. :-)

My mom and Hans are coming over for a visit today and they’re bringing Hans’ son Aldo with them. When going over the place a bit this morning I realized just how easy it now is to actually have people over. Last weekend Bas was here with just about all his hardware and now visitors again and I hardly need to do anything here except for some shopping. There’s plenty of room for fun now.

It’s so very different than it was in the old days. When I lived in my small apartment in Boxmeer there was hardly enough room for myself, let alone for visitors. So when someone pushed hard enough and made it very clear that they were coming over no matter what (you know who you are ;-), all hell broke loose on my side because I needed to rearrange just about the entire place to make some room. Luckily I had an attic over the entire place or I’d be doomed …

But now I just look around, move a monitor upstairs so I can add an extra chair to the table and that’s about it. Just marvelous, it’s so very nice to have this much space to live in. Many thanks to dad and Margot who made this possible for me.

My mom and Hans are coming for a nice lunch and I’ve baked one bread to use at lunch and another one for them to take with them (don’t tell them, it’s a surprise). Mom’s been after my bread making machine ever since I got it and loosely threatened that if I wasn’t going to use it often enough she would take it away. :-) I never actually accepted the challenge but she’s mom so, you know, why take the risk?

So now I am using it, just to be safe and push that expiration date just a bit more forward again. *grin* Yeah, I know, I’m a coward. So be it, hehe.

Have a nice weekend folks, and remember: don’t do things you might regret later on. ;-)

We had a nice snooker evening at Jaap’s house again last night. He has now installed a bar and the wooden decoration along the walls. It’s starting to look like a real snooker hall in there, absolutely amazing. After some painting and a few small details this place is going to look nothing short of fantastic. He’s also got the humidity down quite a bit so no headaches for me this time.

Snooker itself wasn’t bad considering I haven’t played much over the past few weeks. I’d really like to play more often and get back to my old form but I’m afraid that’s just not going to happen any time soon.

It’s worth waiting for though and with the time I spend on Jaap’s table I’m truly enjoying the game so much more than I di, say, a few months back. The difference is just phenomenal.

Maybe dad and I need to have a chat on the possibilities of doing some ‘extending’ in Katwijk in the future … ;-)
