Well, the word is out; I’ve told both the people at Philips and my employer Brunel now that I’ve accepted a new job at Quipment. Telling the folks at Philips was tough. Very tough. Over the past few nights I’ve slept horribly knowing that I was going to have to break the news to them because of the mixed feelings situation. I had stomach aches and was feeling so sick inside that I could hardly sleep and I also woke up in the middle of the night a few times, just feeling awful inside.

On the one hand I’m so happy that I’ve been given the opportunity to work for Quipment but on the other I hate leaving Philips behind. Especially now. Over the four and a half years I’ve worked there I’ve had such a good time, learned a lot (both work wise and about myself to be honest) and in general it was a place I could truthfully call home.

Recently though there had been a few hiccups on the ride with Brunel that weren’t that easy to resolve so I had started overlooking my options and look around for what’s out there in terms of jobs and possibilities. And during my snooker nights I got to talk a bit more to Jaap’s wife Inge who asked me if I would be interested in working for the company she was working for. One thing lead to another and here we are now, all set and done.

April first will be the official first day I’ll be working there and I can’t wait to dive into their world of automation. It’s related to IT again of course but with a very fresh breath of air mixed in because of all the other equipment they work with and support. I’m sure I’ll be having the time of my life there.
