Well; we’re done and what a race it was. This has to be the most exiting Le Mans I’ve ever seen; it was a thriller to the last turn. Just an awesome event and well worth losing a night’s sleep over. ;-)
Audi did an amazing job beating Peugeot at the victory in LMP1, Van Merksteijn Motorsport made it look rather easy to beat everyone else in LMP2, Aston Martin beat Corvette at LMGT1 and the Ferrari from Risi Competizione won the LMGT2 class.
This year’s 24 hours of Le Mans has cost me 2 pizzas’ (you know, those things actually work marvelously as breakfast and lunch ;-), a big doner dish for dinner last night, around 35 cups of coffee I drank over the duration of the race and most likely roughly two years of my life … ;-)
But what a race it was. I’ve said it before and I’ll gladly say it again: for me the 24 hours of Le Mans is by far the most exciting race in the world. Nothing else even comes close. Many thanks for RTL7 who aired the whole thing via the internet and to the guys from Radio Le Mans who commented the race the whole 24 hours through. Both made this a excellent way to spend a day and a half. Simply superb!
And the best quote from the commentary on Radio Le Mans was this one: ‘Allan McNish just did a quadruple stint, he could at least have the common dignity to ‘look’ tired … He looks better than we would after doing 10 laps …‘ Got to love those guys, they are a true joy to listen to.
Right. I’m off to bed now, got to get me at least a few hours of sleep. Have a nice afternoon folks.

Around an hour ago I had another big dip and solved that one pretty much the way I did it previously. Luckily this hill wasn’t as big as the one around three o clock and I could keep on going again. Bas came online just now so we could chat a little over Msn. That was both fun and helped me getting over the small hill that was still lurking in the background.
It’s good to have a little company at this hour. :-)

Come from above. Isn’t that what they say? Well just a few minutes ago two things happened at the track: it started dawning slowly and, which was far more fun, the rain came in. I love the rain during a race because it just throws all existing strategies over board and evens out a lot of cars in one go. The laps that followed were absolutely brilliant to watch!
Good luck to all drivers out there!

Believe it or not, I am getting older I guess so skipping a night is not something to take lightly anymore. Somewhere around three-ish in the morning I had a serious dip and felt like I would fall over any minute so I walked around a bit, had a bite to eat and some more coffee which helped me get passed that first hill.
This is going to be one long night folks …

Unfortunately we lost the car from Lammers just a few minutes ago. An engine failure made an end to this year’s adventure for them. The amount of bad luck this guy is having is just unbelievable. I would so much like him to win Le Mans once more, but it’s looking to slip ever further away from him.
