Time to give some well deserved credits to my ‘new’ old car: the Volvo Amazon P121.

This is my second Amazon and she will never be sold, ever, no matter what. Trust me on this. I’ll go freakin’ broke and live in it before even considering selling another Amazon. The memory of having to let my first one go, and the sore sight of her leaving the street on the back of a trailer, felt almost as bad as being forced to break up a good relationship. Almost. Going through that once is more than enough, and goes double for letting that car go. ;-)

This was my first Amazon in her prime days:

Anyway, that was then and this is now. Let’s start off with some of the technical details of this gorgeous Amazon:

Type: P 12194 VL 4-door saloon
License: 55-71-AP, original Dutch imported car
Year of build: 1966
Pain color: light blue, color code 89
Upholstery color and type: black, 168-503
Engine: 4 cylinder, double SU carburetors, B18D with a 4-speed manual gear
Curb weight: 1071 kilograms

My dad has her now but I will be taking her off his hands in the next few weeks and then use it as my daily driver. She’s in an almost perfect state and has only two very small less than perfect spots I need to look at. The rest is a-ok and ,as you can understand, my goal obviously is to keep it that way.

A friend told me that if a car was either very good looking or not listening too well, then it was a ’she’. If it was huge, powerful and not too bright than ‘him’ would be a better title. ;-)

And as soon as she’s fully mine we’ll come over to meet the family, I promise.

and how would be a good looking, well listening and bright called? UFO? :-))) so beautiful looking frw for the sunny friday afternoon ride senor

  5. Uncle Biek Says:

She would be, has been, and will always be called ‘a princess’ … princess. ;-)

And that would make two of us looking forward to that afternoon very much.

At least she sounds a lot friendlier the last few days :-)

PS: I found my original Vista and XP disks, placed them in at my desk and then powered up my laptop. Probably it scared the hell out of it because it’s working fine now (well, as fine as it could be with vista).

  7. Uncle Biek Says:

Yeah, she’s been through a lot lately but took it without ever looking like giving up.

Good to hear your scared hardware is running fine again and I recommend keeping those disks in sight …
