Windy
It’s quite windy outside today, and it seems as if not every driver out there is able to cope with it very well.
Some cars tend to swerve across the road a bit whenever they come from behind a truck or building for example and others just slow down to a very ‘save’ speed, instantly causing a small traffic jam behind them.
Even though I’m usually more in favor to just keep on going I can’t really blame them. You know, better safe than sorry, specially in these non-standard conditions.
One older person had it pretty bad this morning when I drove to work. He was driving two cars in front of me and suddenly a two to three inches thick branch blew off a tree and crashed right across his windscreen. I could see the wood and glass splinters blast off his car.
The person behind him quickly drove around but since the impact was pretty hard I decided to stop to see if he was okay. I was in no hurry to get to work anyway and besides that you sometimes just need to look after others when they seem to need it.
The fifty-ish guy behind the wheel, though luckily unhurt, was pretty shook up which is completely understandable of course. I would need a few minutes myself when a piece of tree decided to crash onto my car.
He wasn’t carrying a mobile phone on him so I offered him a seat in my car so he could sit warmly out of the wind and rang the road service to pick up his car because it wasn’t in a road going condition anymore.
And after they came along , which was in a record time of just under fifteen minutes, he was going to be okay and I continued my journey to work.
It’s at times like these where I sometimes find myself in a difficult position. Part of me wants to stop and see how everybody is, and another part of me, I guess, is a little scared or worried for what I might walk into.
So far I’ve trusted my gut for these things and up until now it hasn’t failed me. Let’s hope it stays this way :-)
You’re a hero :) When such thing would happen to me I would be very happy with a guy like you helpin’ out. Your guts are perfectly allright bro!!
Oh well, we all do what we can, right?
I really am very proud of you my son.
If ever I have a sort of thing like that guy
i do hope you will be around. (someone like you will be hard to find!!)
love,
Odiel
Thanks mom, it was one of those small steps for men, giant step for the one who needed it.
